Charles M. Schulz
Legendary cartoonist Charles Schulz did not have an easy start as an artist, with his cartoons initially being rejected by his high school yearbook. After serving in the military, he returned to drawing, and his cartoon “Li’l Folks” was featured in the St. Paul Pioneer Press from 1947 to 1950. In 1950 he began drawing “Peanuts” for the United Feature Syndicate, and the strip continued until his death in 2000 at the age of 77. Since its beginnings, and even now in reprints, “Peanuts” continues to be one of the most beloved comic strips of all time.
